There exists in the world of thune a group of beings who ensure that the world is never made defenseless to magical or technological harm.
They are the Golden Court, which is composed of various spellcasters devoted to performing the magical plays of the Golden Queen. More than just one now exists now, and different ones create different kinds of effects, but all bring tragedy to those who seek to conquer planets or even just countries.
As with all magic of Thune, the queens power is available to learn through the process of becoming a performer in one of these plays. The process may drive you slowly insane as all manner of magical mayhem unfolds arpund you, but you have friends who will keep you together through the process.
At the end of this process, you dont just dont just get rune spells on your body, but golden sigils, and sometimes all are from one of the queens’ schools. Sometimes, there are sigils from multiple schools.
Then, with the right spell, the sigil end up being able to also become eyes among other things. Each eye has an iris with a color unique to it, and each see all of the world in a unique way, and with them, there is an arcane secret to its associated spells.
The Golden Court doesn’t just teach and defend against magic though they run the train stations that the shadow express runs to and from anywhere you want to go has its own ajoining stations with all manner of shops inside.
Your next trip to an old book store could lead to one of these train stations where you could buy anything you want from one of 52 different shops, taverns or inns.
And let’s just say that the list trains in the shadow express network is quite large.however the most notable feature there are the schools they have arcane spell casters especially warlocks.
You see there al three cor ranks of adventurers among the Odd Bodkins. 1: those consisting of Raven Spear who can be trained by anybody. 2: Those who require private covert and expensive mercenaries to train them ( such as the Golden Court for instance.) Who make up the most known elite called rune spear.
Then finally there are those trained only directly by the Odd Bodkins themselves called Whisper Spear. Whisper Spear is so essential for security no enemy can know of its existence. They are the unseen royals of the chessboard
And of coarse the rooks, bishops, and knights consist of the agents of rune spear who are the faces for them.
But don’t worry about being a pawn now because in chess once you make it to the eighth square you can become a queen or any other non pawn piece that you want to be.
