Originally, the way workers were a group of angels and celestial beings that would travel up up and down the Duathi River to deliver souls into paradise

Sometimes, they also had to saile the Styx river to deliverto deliver malicous ghosts into a prison because otherwise they would interfere with the rights of gentle ghosts.

As that happened, gentle ghosts needed guides who were often the ghosts of now much more intelligent animals who would lead these ghosts to safety.

Obur,  the deal maker, would also train elders of her tribe to hand walk ghosts to where these angels were rescuing lost ghosts and sometimes delivering them back down to the world. Soon, everybody started building docks and more kinds of boats for this journey.

Soon, Oburu brought her three elders to help, and they started building fishing villiages around each dock where they could train more druids.

Tragicly, eventually, Oburu was forgotten and could not always venture oast whisper grove too far without help.

Oburus druids hired called on many more nature spirits to help out in building light houses to aid Oburu, these nature spirits eventually brought called out to other shamans to aid them in what they were doing and soon the world of thune was interconnected many magical rivers that linked all over the world of Thune. These could allow ghosts of the dead to visit their decendeants if they could make it to a body of water.

For manny years, the elders took care of the rivers as best they could until magics meant to enslave and corrupt ghosts into becoming violent weapons was forced on them after a grand battle between natural and celestial magics and a secret form of pact magic meant to steal luck and cheat people out of money the celestial forces one but only one druid elder remained. They/she stood waist deep in a huge pile of demon corpses that clogeged much of the Duathi River.

The lone druid had mainly fhost and animal friends for years and years as she slowly built back whisper grove through a slow process of having broken buildings grow into tree houses and lost ghosts come back as fey wardens.

Eventually, this place would become the host, the first haven called Spirit Haven. Elite totemic barbarians were trained here along with certain kinds of paladins, and of coarse  they trained many others to become rangers

The old ways we die except. The lone druids mind, and they would train up the most elite druids who, in turn, could take on abilities some considered necromantic.

For thousands of years, Spirits Haven fought they who would send demon slaves until one day everything changed. Some how some where ther was now a system of advanced chariots doing the same thing as her bought they never dound one untill one day a young lady found her holding a highly intricate looking picture of a magic chariot with no horses.

The best vehicles of the druids day were galley ships capable of moving with oars on water. But the magical picture before her was  just about a chariot powered by fire somehow. The druid didn’t know how, but she knew she needed to replace the other druids that had been lost.

It would be only a thousand years later when a railway system existed in a world that did not even have horses and buggies , et alone steam engines. The young lady whomever she had learned enough about old magics to rival her knowledge of complex mechanical vehicles and blended the two together.

River wandering would become more obsolete, but the druids order of mystics could adapt. Wherever there were two doors and two distinct places instead of portals, one of the young ladies’ “rail ways” could be built. Spirits of all kinds would build railways for this new order of mystics way workers.

The Way Workers of Whisper Grove would also

*Escort passengers to trains and to doors to train stations
*Continue to operate nautical escort expiditions.
* Provide security for those needing escorts to a train
* Provide passenger excelent service while on the trains
* Create hosts upon hosts of stables and garages for those looking for a place to take them to a train station.
* sell and take tickets for those rideing the trains
* keep every secret road unseen and undetectable in the between places.

The Way Workers maintain contact with the lone druid to this day. The ferriers are a group of rangers and barbarians that they train and are unlike anyone else. They are clever and magic like wizards but with all the druidic furry of a dire swamp gator.

They strut their stuff magic top hats magic cards and rows upon rows of golden aligator teeth with intricate runes carved on them.

Intricate black swamp vines grow from some parts of their body forming intricate notted tatoos that grant them some reilence of the plantlife in their habitat some of the once long forgoten fey magic of their ancestors.
