Adventure Day 2
**** ****

Day 2: A Tortle’s 1st Swim for Umbrielle (true name Ost Itch) so you have it for your notes:
The Vault Beneath the Deck
You woke alone in your private quarters to the smell of roasted meat, robust ale, and sweet bread, with laughter and music thrumming up through the floorboards. Following a long stone ramp down, you found the hidden vault.
Down below, cloaked figures played cards, dice, and darts while mages repaired ornate, multi-element golems — Rev Runners.
Tavin filled you in:
• The crew “owns the top bunk” but hides the lower deck from those above • Dragonborn up top would rat them out; golds are accepted, silvers tolerated, but all are seen as boot-kissers to the Iron Keeper • The Iron Keeper, per Tavin, doesn’t exist — his clerics/paladins have no true magic, just a grand lie to feel special • Rev Runners are all-purpose golems: fight, open locks, cast spells — backup when you have none
Tavin pointed you to The Mistress (the gold elf in the black cloak / elegant shield dwarf with red hair) for work.
The Test
You joined her card game. You rolled 90 — no match, score zero. You bluffed with a Deception 18. The snarky 1.5-ft halfling with 7s failed his insight and folded. You won 5 gold.
The Mistress was impressed by your calm under pressure: “I can tell almost anything about a person after one hand.”
She offered you a simple run to Snare a Rune.
Snaring the Anchor Rune
Rumble, the Tabaxi in the belt-laden uniform (true name Ost Itch), guided you:
1. Touched the adamantine golem, concentrated 6 seconds (rolled 15) — a burning red anchor symbol ignited in your mind, hot and bubbling 2. Silent-spoke its name: “Anchor” (you rolled 69) — an arc of electric fire branded the rune onto your shoulder 3. Reav the rune: you chose Water + a skipping stone. With DEX + Proficiency (+3) your 14 became a 17 — Critical Connection 4. The stone exploded in blue icy mist. The golem shattered into chips and reformed into a huge bubbling dagger that buried itself in the floor, the hilt splitting open to reveal a spiral staircase
Rumble: “Wow nice job kid. Not everyone gets it on the first try.”
You descended with Rumble and The Mistress into the construct. Inside was impossibly larger — a lavish command bridge with desks and viewing windows looking out onto dark water and sunken masts.
There you met your captain, a male Tabaxi much like Rumble:
Mungle: “My name is Mungle, your captain for this voyage.”

Adventure Day 3

Character Journal: Umbrielle
True Name: Osh Tish (secret, DM knowledge only)
Thune: The Last Scouring – Day 2: A Tortle’s 1st Swim

The Vault Beneath the Deck
Woke alone in private quarters to smells of roast meat, ale, and sweet bread, with music and laughter vibrating up from below. Followed a long stone ramp down into a vast underground vault.
Met old contacts. Cloaked figures played cards, dice, and darts. Mages repaired ornate multi-element golems known as Rev Runners.
Tavin explained: crew owns the top bunk but hides below deck. Dragonborn above would rat them out. Gold dragonborn accepted, silvers tolerated, but all serve the fake Iron Keeper. Per Tavin, the Iron Keeper does not exist. His clerics and paladins have no true magic.
Rev Runners: golems that can fight, open locks, cast spells. Backup when you have none.
The Test
The Mistress (gold elf in black cloak, also seen as elegant shield dwarf with red hair) was dealing cards and nibbling a roast kabob. I sat in.
Game: roll 2d10, high matching pair wins. 69 or 96 is blackout. I rolled 90, no match, score zero. I bluffed with Deception 18. The 1.5 ft halfling with 7s failed insight and folded. Won 5 gold.
Mistress: “I can tell almost anything about a person after one hand. You never give up and you have incredible calm.” She offered work: Snare a Rune.
Snaring the Anchor Rune
Rumble (Tabaxi, intricate belt uniform) guided me:
1. Touched adamantine golem, concentrated 6 sec (rolled 15 Con). Burning red anchor symbol formed in my mind, intense heat. 2. Silent-spoke name: “Anchor” (rolled 69 percentile). Arc of electric fire branded rune on my shoulder. 3. Reav: declared Water and a skipping stone. Threw with ranged attack. Rolled 14 +3 (DEX 13 + proficiency) = 17, Critical Connection. 4. Blue icy mist explosion. Golem broke into chips, reformed into huge dagger, buried in ground. Hilt opened to spiral stairs.
Descended into Rev Runner. Interior vastly larger than exterior. Lavish command bridge with desks, viewing windows showing dark water and sunken masts.
Met Captain Mungle (male Tabaxi, like Rumble). “My name is Mungle, your captain for this voyage.”
Mission Briefing: Wraith Shell Rune
Destination: Port Trundle Bay, edge of Adderon.
Target: wraith shell rune at rear gate of underwater abandoned elven graveyard, 4 fathoms down via cave entrance. Burial crypts the size of mansions. Deeply personal to the Mistress.
Plan:
In: Teleport from Trundle to swim point, swim to cave, transcribe rune, climb Clock Spire up through water to Iron Keeper military fort.
Fort exit: storm drain to flooded root cellar, to utility basement, out window to dry moat, rope / collapsible pole ladder over janitor bridge, run to tent city.
Out: tent city (janitors, nomads, children, friendly) to hire caravan coach back to Port Trundle. Rendezvous with Mistress / Rumble. Mungle can dock at Trundle.
Threats: skeletons in graveyard (Mistress will loan relic vs intelligent undead). In fort: elite musketeers and iron golems. Stick to janitor exit, expect ?2. Watch for alarms. Night sneak recommended, but more undead at night.
Gear: Lost my great maul on arrival. Decided maul is best vs skeletons underwater, can thrust like spear. To be equipped before next run.
Status: Rested in Mistress chamber. Ready to equip and fight next session..
