Lilith is widely regarded as the one who captains the Shadow Express. While other modes of transport are governed by individual vehicle owners Lillith owns the train that can even go from heaven to hell and back again and to every corner of the cosmos. Lilith is very strict when it comes to maintaining order on the train, slaying and killing all pose a threat to her train stations while rescuing all that will listen to her teaching granting her very best students permanent luxury cabins on board her train. It’s Lilith’s mission to stop all worlds from collapsing in on themselves from tyranny by organizing all dreaming peoples from all over the cosmos in a grand scale expedition to purge the world of its tyrants and despotic fools.
Many of Lillith’s core opponents include devils who are too dumb to realize the end of the world is their end also, renegade angels who help some humans and hurt others for political reasons, the agents of Cthulhu who is determined to destroy worlds, and the dark fey whose perception of magical codes compels them to harm many innocent mages, and of course the forces allied with the hierophant.
Lillith slays her foes through her agents, often deploying vast vampire armies from individual train stations armed with vampiric blades that can even snatch the life energy from the worst devils. The people of Thune see Lillith as the last line of defense against a world that wants to eat them alive for existing
While nobody meets Lillith up close, what they know of her from the ticket takers is that Lillith is a being of the fiercest determination and the deadliest magic.
Ticket Takers
The Ticket Takers are a bloodline of vampires connected to Lilith’s own Blood. Each can be as 3 days reborn or over 3000 years old all have been forsworn to guard the railways of the dream world for eternity. Some are dressed in Victorian fashion or in modern fashions, some look more like everyday people and others look like undead horrors yet they are all covered with ruby blades
Ticket takers are responsible for all acts of building services and cabin curation, as well as managing all aspects of the railway, many seeking to join the life of an adventurer when they can, but will still maintain a telepathic link to Lilith as her agent even when adventuring.
The Shadow Express
Each car on the train is its own private demi plane magic mansion where a ticket taker plays host to any number of mortals from all over the cosmos where only a few are allowed to have permanent rooms a gift that always comes with an invitation from Lilith herself to become a ticket taker themselves
The knowledge tools and skill to build the train cars have been engineered into Lilith’s blood by Queen Hastur herself along with the ability to conjure ruby tools that are capable of doing almost anything including forging material out of shadow itself that is stronger and lighter than titanium.
The passengers onboard when they look around often perceive a luxury class late Victorian luxury steam train with cabins organized like 5 star hotel rooms and dining cars like world class taverns. Passengers who ride the train may get a personal invite from Lilith if they stay on the train for three stops.
Rules Of the Rail.
Whenever you elect to ride the Rail of the shadow express you must always follow three rules
Rule number one is everybody must have a ticket given directly to them by Lillith they must be worn around the neck at all times where it stays fixed magically until it expires
Rule number two is there can be no violence or fighting of anyone at any time and that if there is a conflict of any kind it must be taken to a ticket taker to mediate
The third law is that every ticket taker is the monarch over their own car and what they say goes. If the rules or terms of a train car seem unreasonable then there is a near endless train of other cars to choose from. However since their cars only grow more powerful the more popular they get. Every ticket taker will do anything to ensure somebody’s train trip is absolutely luxurious.
Lilith as the Queen of Hearts
Lilith holds sway of the entirety of the railways and the only limit to what sway she has on her train is that it can not move in broad daylight between the hours of 10 am and 7pm. Lilith can manifest herself within 10 miles of the train or any train station she owns and both her and her agents are always able to manifest a ruby glaive or halberd in their hands that allows them to work superfast and unseen. And whoever holds one of these weapons is said to move at the speed of sound with these invulnerable weapons. Death by decapitation is the fate of all Lilith’s foes.
